The Embassy is recruiting new dynamic, pro-active and detail-oriented visa officers.

You will be working in a team of around 20 dedicated and highly professional colleagues. The main tasks are handling of Schengen visa applications for Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands. The work involves handling and prioritizing many different visa cases on a daily basis, keeping up to date with key legislation and cooperation with colleagues at the mission, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Danish Immigration Service. 

Main tasks and responsibilities as a visa officer:
• Examination of Schengen visa applications, incl. supporting documentation, and interviews of applicants.
• Registering applications in the relevant IT systems.
• Case processing according to the Schengen Visa Code and Danish national legislation. 
• Written communication with applicants and other members of the public.
• Answering phone calls, providing a high level of service and guidance in visa matters.
• Contact with the Danish Immigration Service and other partners.

Required qualifications:
• The Embassy’s working language is English and fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Proficiency in other languages is an advantage, but not a requirement.
• Administrative qualifications obtained either through education and training or relevant experience, preferably in a customer service or administrative role.
• Good IT skills and ability to work virtually on different platforms.
• A strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail and compliance. 
• High integrity and the ability to work fast without making mistakes during peak seasons, when high numbers of applications are processed daily. 
• A clean criminal record is a prerequisite.

Employment conditions:
This is a full-time position with a 37-hour working week. 

Remuneration in accordance with the Embassy’s salary scale for mission employed staff. Monthly salary: £2,460 for employees subject to UK income tax or £2,154 for tax-exempt employees. An additional allowance may be added based on qualifications. 

The position includes 25 paid holiday days per year. UK bank holidays are additional to this.

The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take 2–3 months. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview at the Embassy in London in late February or early March 2025 (virtual interviews may also be arranged). Only short-listed candidates will be contacted.

Expected start: As soon as possible following the recruitment process, presumably 1 May 2025 or shortly thereafter.
