A referendum was held in the United Kingdom on 23 June 2016 regarding whether the country should remain in the EU or leave. The majority voted to leave. The Embassy has been receiving many questions from Danish citizens living in the UK on how the result of the referendum might affect them. What the UK leaving the EU will mean for EU citizens and companies will not be known until negotiations are concluded. The Embassy cannot therefore at this point in time say, if visas or work permits will be needed in the future to visit, study or work in the UK. Nor do we know under which conditions EU-citizens can stay permanently in the UK.
