Legalisation

Verification of Copies
A verification is typically used as proof that a photocopy is a true copy of the original document. It may be a copy of a Danish passport or certain other official documents.

Verification does not have anything to do with the contents of a document. It merely confirms that it is a true copy.

Verifications are carried out by the Embassy's Passport Office (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 10.00-12.00, Thursday 13.00 - 14.30 (no appointment necessary) except Danish Public Holidays & UK Bank Holidays). The person whose document has to be verified must attend in person.

The fee is £27.00 per document.

Apostille Endorsements
On 1st January 2007 Denmark acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention of 5th October 1961.

When a document has been endorsed with an Apostille, it is in most cases no longer necessary to have another legalisation done by the Embassy.

However, Embassy legalisation is still required, if the document is to be used in a country, which has not acceded to the Apostille Convention. Countries outside the Apostille Convention.

Please make an appointment if Embassy legalisation is required. The fee is £27.00 per legalisation.

Further information about the Apostille is available on the website of the Danish Ministry for Foreign Affairs here.
