The Royal Danish Embassy is looking for a full time new local staff member to fulfil the function as Building Facilities Manager at the Embassy.

The building facilities manager will be the overall responsible for our big building complex (Embassy building and apartments) together with 1 full time facilities assistant and external Contractors.

Job description

The new colleague will fulfil the following main functions among others:

  • Team leader with reference to Head of Administration
  • Manage all Hard and Soft services to include Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), mechanical and electrical services (M&E), Security, Access control, CCTV, Office supplies, equipment, Conference facilities
  • Contract coordinator for all Utilities, including Electric, Gas and Water. Energy Management and Sustainability
  • Coordinator for mobile phone contract
  • Contractor coordinator, budgeting and management
  • Site maintenance Planned and reactive
  • Project planning, costing, coordinating and delivering, long term planning
  • 24 hour call out and main key holder
  • Daily security guard coordinator and Postal security screening
  • Emergency services point of contact (Police, Fire, Gas, Electric, Water)
  • H&S, First Aid at work and Fire Safety
  • Environmental management, waste management (inc. WEEE)
  • Fleet Vehicle Management, Insurance, maintenance, repairs and purchasing
  • Buildings and Employer’s Liability Insurance
  • Practical preparation and implementation of events at the embassy and residence
  • Office and building refurbishments, planning, budgeting and delivery
  • Local Authority, Architect and landlord liaison
  • Hands ON maintenance

Requirements/qualifications

  • Education/training: Membership of Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) or equivalent
  • Knowledge/experience: Minimum 5 years of practical experience in building management
  • Clean criminal record is a pre-requisition.

Skills

  • Thorough knowledge (capacity to write and speak) in English is required.
  • IT skills
  • Knowledge of accounting/budgets

About the building

The Danish Embassy was designed by the famous Danish architect Arne Jacobsen. It is a purpose-built embassy of 7500 m2 in a strong, modernist design, which houses the chancellery functions as well as the Ambassador’s Residence. Employment conditions

The employment will be in accordance with the salary scale for locally employed staff at the embassy. The salary is £ 34.400 gross annually. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, additional allowances can be added to the salary.

Weekly working time is 37 hours. The salary includes 25 paid days of holiday per year.  Working conditions will follow British legislation. The embassy has its own staff handbook for local employees.

Our new colleague will move into one of our attractive one-bedroom apartments incl. utilities in Pavilion Road in the heart of Chelsea as part of the remuneration packet.
