Building upon a unique quantum science legacy, Denmark has strong ambitions for growing the emerging Danish quantum ecosystem. Do you have the skills, interest, and drive to play an important part in helping Denmark realize its ambitions?
Invest in Denmark is looking for an Investment Manager to attract quantum technology foreign direct investments to Denmark, build collaborations between the ecosystem in Europe and Denmark within quantum, and further develop bilateral government cooperation in the quantum area between UK and Denmark.
You will be based at the Danish Embassy in London and report directly to the Market Director for Europe who is based in Copenhagen. As a member of our European team of 10 experienced investment managers (three of them placed in London), you will be part of our global organization of 60 colleagues working with investment promotion. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with the political department at the Embassy.
Job description
The Government of Denmark aims to unlock the immense potential of quantum technologies, not only in the realm of research but also in translating this knowledge into solutions that can benefit society, businesses, national security, and international cooperation. A key priority in the national strategy is to develop international quantum partnerships and attract foreign companies bringing knowledge, talent, and capital to the unique quantum ecosystem in Denmark.
Against this backdrop, Invest in Denmark’s new Investment Manager in London will identify, contact, and cultivate contacts with European companies and relevant organizations and associations working within quantum technology. As Investment Manager, you will interact closely with eco-systems in Denmark alongside colleagues from across the European team and specialized colleagues in Denmark to promote Danish quantum strongholds. The investment manager will also support work related to bilateral government cooperation and agreements as well as collaboration between the quantum ecosystems in UK and Denmark. This will be done in close coordination with the political department at the Embassy of Denmark in London and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Tech department in Copenhagen.
The main tasks and responsibilities as Investment Manager include, but are not limited to:
- Promote Denmark as an investment destination for European companies by organizing and implementing one-on-one company meetings, marketing events & roundtables targeting potential investors,
- Develop and manage a pipeline of investment projects,
- Provide business development services for clients related to:
- Danish framework conditions and industry specific advantages of Denmark
- Market and R&D opportunities
- Benchmarking of Denmark in relation to other countries (competitor analysis),
- Monitor local policy development within quantum in relation to rules, regulations, guidelines, frameworks, grant schemes, dual-use/security related issues etc.,
- Establish, develop and maintain network relations with relevant stakeholders in the British quantum ecosystem (start-ups, universities/academic hubs, corporates, technological institutions, government/policy bodies, investors etc.) to facilitate relationship building and international collaboration on quantum between Denmark and the UK,
- Service visiting Danish ministers, Members of Parliament and other government delegations, providing input for talking points, speeches and background information as well as use network relations to organise relevant meetings,
- Contribute to communication work of Invest in Denmark as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Required qualifications
- A MSc in STEM, business, economics, or finance,
- Commercial mindset, and ability to understand strategic decision-making processes within various stakeholders in the quantum ecosystem (start-ups, academia, public authorities, corporates and investors),
- Ability to understand policy processes and work with government organizations,
- Capacity to manage several tasks independently and efficiently,
- A team-player who values a good working environment with a strong focus on cooperation and knowledge sharing.
- Substantial working experience in relevant roles, including documented international sales, consulting or business development experience from reputable organizations, with priority given to candidates with quantum related experience,
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Danish is an advantage.

Employment conditions
- You will be offered employment on a local contract for an initial duration of two years with the possibility of extension;
- This is a full-time salary position, the Embassy’s standard work week is 37 hours;
- You will have a large degree of flexibility in organizing your own daily working hours;
- The employment will be in accordance with the salary scale for locally employed staff at the embassy. Monthly salary 3,734 GBP for employees subject to UK income tax or 3, 151 GBP for tax-exempt employees. This is subject to NIC deduction. An additional allowance may be added based on qualifications and experience.
- You will be entitled to 25paid holiday days per year; combined DK/UK public holidays are additional to this.
