International Driving Licences
Who can apply for an international driving licence?
- An international driving licence from Denmark may only be issued to citizens who are holders of a valid Danish driving licence.
- Unlike the issuance of a Danish driving licence, there is no requirement that the citizen has habitual residence in Denmark (residence for a minimum of 185 days in a calendar year) when applying for an international driving licence.
Where and how to apply
- You can submit your application directly to your Citizen Service Centre in Denmark. A list of Danish municipalities can be found here.
- In person at the Embassy's Passport Office or at a local Danish Consulate/Vice-Consulate.
- If you are applying at the Embassy you must book an appointment online at the Passport Office. Please check our booking system.
- If you wish to apply at a Consulate/Vice-Consulate you must make an appointment direct with the Consulate/Vice-Consulate List of Consulates and Vice-Consulates in the UK

Your passport (or Birth Certificate)

One passport photo (3.5 x 4.5 am) taken face on. Your head must measure between 3.0 and 3.6 cm from the bottom of your chin to the top of your hair

One application form to be filled in at the Embassy or Consulate

A cover letter to accompany the above
International Driving Licences are issued centrally in Denmark and the processing time is 3-4 weeks. Please note that the Citizen Service Centre will contact you directly if they have any questions.
