International Driving Licences

Who can apply for an international driving licence?

  1. An international driving licence from Denmark may only be issued to citizens who are holders of a valid Danish driving licence.
  2. Unlike the issuance of a Danish driving licence, there is no requirement that the citizen has habitual residence in Denmark (residence for a minimum of 185 days in a calendar year) when applying for an international driving licence.

Where and how to apply

  1. You can submit your application directly to your Citizen Service Centre in Denmark. A list of Danish municipalities can be found here
  2. In person at the Embassy's Passport Office or at a local Danish Consulate/Vice-Consulate.
  3. If you are applying at the Embassy you must book an appointment online at the Passport Office. Please check our booking system.
  4. If you wish to apply at a Consulate/Vice-Consulate you must make an appointment direct with the Consulate/Vice-Consulate List of Consulates and Vice-Consulates in the UK
