Each applicant must bring the following documents:

Please read the following carefully and make sure that you include all the relevant documents with your application. Once you have collected all the required documentation you can check these against the Visa Document Checklist

Visa Document Checklist

1. One completed application form

It must be signed by the applicant. All questions must be answered - otherwise the application may not be accepted. Please specify the total number of days of stay and the period of validity (first date of entry to the last day of your final visit) requested if you are applying for 2 or more entries.

2. Passport/travel document, photo and UK Residence Permit

Please also bring a copy of your passport and UK residence permit and a recent passport photo.
If you have travelled in the Schengen area in the last 3 years, and your previous Schengen visas are in an expired passport, you will also need to bring the expired passport.

The passport/travel document must have two blank page for the visa sticker. 

Your passport/travel document must be valid for at least 3 months after your visit to Denmark (or in the case of several visits, after the last intended date of departure from the territory of the Schengen States) and must have been issued within the previous 10 years.    

If you live in the UK and are returning to the UK after your visit to Denmark you must hold a UK visa/residence/work permit valid for at least 3 months after your visit.

Saudi nationals must produce their ID card with translation into English in addition to their passport.

3. Evidence of occupation/student status

Documents must not be older than 1 month

Employment:

  • Original signed letter from employer or recent payslip.

Self-employment:

  • Original signed letter from a solicitor, accountant or Companies House confirming self-employment status.

Unemployment:

  • Social benefit entitlement letter

Students (including children under 18)

  • Original signed student letter from school, college or university confirming course details.

4. Proof of purpose of visit

Documents must not be older than 1 month

Visit to family or friends: 

  • Original signed letter of invitation stating duration of stay together with a copy of the passport (with signature page) and residence permit of the person who is inviting you.You may also use the invitation form (please click here to download invitation form for family/friend visit). If you are applying for multiple entries your host in Denmark should indicate this on the invitation form or invitation letter.
    E-mails are not accepted.

Business/Conferences:

  • Original signed letter from foreign business partner
     
    You may also use the business invitation form (please click here to download invitation form for business visit).
    The letter must explain the nature and duration of stay and number of entries required. If the foreign business partner is covering all expenses connected with your visit it must be stated in the letter. Otherwise a hotel booking must be produced.
  • If your employer is covering all expenses a letter stating this must be provided.
    Conferences: confirmation that you have been accepted for the conference and paid the registration fee.

Tourism:

  • Confirmed hotel reservation for all planned stays in the Schengen area/confirmation of organised tour
    If you are planning several visits to other Schengen countries hotel bookings must be produced for all visits. Please note that Denmark or Iceland must be the main destination (the country where you will be spending the most number of days).
  • Please note that when using Booking.com for hotel bookings, names no longer appear on the confirmation. Please therefore show your confirmation email from Booking.com, which must be sent to the same e-mail address as the one you state on the visa application form.

5. Travel insurance

Proof of insurance must be produced at the time of application.

  • Insurance Certificate 
    The insurance must cover emergency medical expenses, hospitalization and repatriation (also in case of death) - minimum EU 30,000. Evidence of this cover is required, i.e. the relevant paragraphs from the full insurance policy document (not Key Facts or Summary).

Private visits:

  • Travel insurance is required even if your reference in Denmark has stated that he/she will cover this. A single or annual multi-trip insurance will be accepted if you are applying for multiple entries.

Business visits:

  • If your employer or foreign business partner is covering travel insurance or  you are a member of a company travel insurance scheme your employer’s letter or invitation must confirm this.  Otherwise a private travel insurance must be produced.

6. Evidence of sufficient funds for the visit

£60.00 per person per day if you are staying in a hotel.
£40.00 per person per day if you are staying in a hostel or similar.
£20.00 per person per day if you are staying with family or friends (even when your host has confirmed that he/she will be covering your expenses) plus funds for a return ticket to your country of residence.

  • Original recent Bank Statement  (covering the last 3 calendar months. The last transaction must be no more than 1 month old)
    (if recent Bank Statement  is not available online printouts or mini statement together with original Bank Statement showing name and account number will be accepted).
  • If your account is overdrawn you must bring proof of an overdraft facility.
    Or
  • Recent Credit Card statement showing credit limit or Savings Account statement
    Or 
  • Traveller’s Cheques

Cash is not accepted.

Business visits:

If your employer or foreign business partner is covering your expenses your employer’s letter or invitation must confirm this. Otherwise a private bank statement must be produced.

Documents must be in English or Danish translated by an authorized translator.
Please note that in some cases further documents may be required.

7. Round-trip ticket 

Confirmed booked round-trip ticket.

Family members of EU/EEA nationals and Danish nationals living in the UK or another EU/EEA country (except Denmark)

8. Minors (children under the age of 18) - in addition to the above requirements

1.    Minors travelling with parents, where both parents hold parental responsibility:

       Birth Certificate 
       Original passports of both parents
       Application form must be signed by both parents.

 

2.    Minors travelling alone or with only one parent, where both parents hold parental responsibility:

       Birth Certificate
       Original passports of both parents
       Application form must be signed by both parents

3.    Minors travelling alone or with only one parent, where one parent holds parental responsibility/legal
       guardianship:

       Birth Certificate
       Original passport of parent holding parental responsibility or legal guardian
       Parent holding parental responsibility/legal guardianship must sign application form (proof of sole parental 
       responsibility/legal guardianship required. Please note that a UK Residence Order or Visiting Order is not proof
       of sole parental responsibility).  

Children under 12 only: One recent passport photograph

A recent passport photo (not older than 3 months) measuring 35mm x 45mm. The photo should bear close resemblance to the child's current appearance and the face should be facing the camera directly. The distance from chin to the top of the head should measure between 30mm and 36mm. Forehead and hairline should be visible.

UK Passports

British passports must be valid for the duration of the trip to Denmark.

UK Travel Documents

UK Travel Document according to the 1951 UN Convention (dark blue):
Valid for travel to Denmark. No visa required.

UK Travel Document according to the 1954 UN Convention (red):
Valid for travel to Denmark. No visa required.

UK Certificate of Travel (black):
Valid for travel to Denmark. Visa required.
