Next step for Heat Networks: Digitalisation

Photo: Elin Hultgren, Senior Energy Projects Officer at Nottingham City Council explains about lessons learnt with digitalisation of heat networks in Nottingham.

This event (Organised by the Danish Embassy in London on 4 March 2020) focused on the opportunities and barriers for digitalisation in new and existing heat networks. Digitalisation will make heat networks more sustainable, more customer friendly and more competitive than ever – but how?

At the event, leading practitioners explained on how digitalisation can:

• Generate energy savings

• Cut peak loads

• Reduce maintenance costs

• Give consumers better understanding of their energy consumption

For owners and operators this means that it is possible to cut-way expensive peak boilers, connect more customers to existing network, and free up resources to invest in new sustainable energy sources.

Over 100 people registered to attend the events, which featured presentations and talks from 11 speakers.

The event is part of a series of events organised by the Danish Embassy to provide provide information on Denmark’s experience where over 60% of the buildings are connected, rising to 90% in Copenhagen.

THE NEXT EVENT ON HEAT NETWORKS IS IN LONDON ON 18 JUNE.

The Embassy would like to thank our sponsors and supporters:
