Residence Permits – Family Reunification

New family reunification rules for spouses will apply from 15th May 2012. Please see the website of the Danish Immigration Service for further information Nye regler for ægtefællesammenføring (Danish only).

As from 21st May 2012 Danish residence cards must contain biometrics (digital photograph & signature and fingerprints of 10 fingers). From this date all applications for a Danish residence permit must be handed in in person at the VF Services (UK) Ltd Centre . VFS is the Embassy of Denmark's outsourcing partner for visas and residence permits. When you hand in your application, VFS will record your biometrics at the same time.

Children under 6 (age 6 minus 1 day) are not required to give fingerprints.

Please note the following 

• You will require a "Case Order ID" (obtainable online) and pay a fee (payable online) before submitting your application to the VFS Centre. The application fee is payable to the Danish Immigration Service in addition to the VFS service charge and fee charged by the Embassy. Please see the website of the Danish Immigration Service for further information on Fees
• The application should normally be submitted in your country of origin. However, if you have been staying in another country as a resident for more than 3 months, the application may be submitted in that country.
• Please visit the website of the Danish Immigration Service  for general information on family reunification. 
• Family Reunification applications must be submitted in person (including children).

There are six categories of family reunification:

 
FA1 Application for family reunification for spouses
EU/FA1 Application for family reunification with a spouse who is a Danish citizen under EU regulations
FA2 Application for family reunification for children
EU/FA2 Application for family reunification for children/grandchildren (direct descendants) with a Danish citizen under EU regulations
SG1 Application for family reunification with other family members
EU/SG1 Application for family reunification with a Danish citizen under EU regulations for other family members

• Please read the instructions on the front of the form carefully and answer all questions before making an application,
  state your Case Order ID, provide refund information in the appropriate boxes on the form, and
  enclose payment receipt with your application.
• Please note that if you have not obtained a Case Order ID and made the payment online (if you have to pay a fee) before you submit your application, the Danish Immigration Service may reject your application.

The following should be submitted with your application:

1.     2 application forms (please see instructions on the front of the application form). Both forms must
        be identical. Please supply your UK contact details: address, mobile telephone number and e-mail
        address.
 
2.     Original passport.

3.     Additional documentation as listed on the front of the
        application form
 
4.     Non-refundable fee of £161.00 per passport holder.
       
        Children under six and family members of EU/EEA
        nationals (copy of EU/EEA national's passport and
        Marriage Certificate required) are free of charge.
