NemID

The Passport Office is closed on Tuesday 10th October 2017, including collection and telephone enquiries.

NemID is your digital signature - and the key to digital Denmark. NemID is a single login for public website, online banking, and many other websites and services in Denmark. It consists of a user ID, a password, and a code card containing one-time passwords.

You can obtain NemID if:

  • You have a Danish CPR number
  • You have reached the age of 15
  • You are able to meet the ID requirements.

You do not need to be a Danish national. You can obtain NemID if you have a CPR number and valid ID. Read more about valid ID here.

How do I obtain NemID?

There are several ways to obtain NemID. You can:

  • Obtain NemID (in person) via citizen services in Denmark
  • Order NemID online (requires Danish passport or Danish Driver's licence)

You can read more about NemID here

Order NemID online

Order NemID with a Danish driver's licence or a Danish passport (Danish only)

Please make sure to state your full name  as it appears in your passport - otherwise we cannot hand over your letter with the Activation Password. The Activation Password is used for activating the NemID for the first time, and can be ordered for collection at Danish Consulates and Vice-Consulates in the UK or at the Embassy.

After a few weeks, you will receive your code card at your registered postal address. The letter with the Activation Password usually arrives at the Embassy/Consulate 2-3 weeks after placing your order. You are welcome to email lonamb@um.dk to enquire whether we have received your letter with your Activation Password. Please note that the Activation Password is valid for 6-8 weeks. If you do not activate your NemID within this time frame, you will need to re-order your NemID.

NemID ordered from Denmark can be collected from the Embassy's Passport Office at the following times:

Monday, Tuesday and Friday 10.00 - 12.00.

No appointment is necessary.

Please bring your valid passport as proof of your name together with proof of your Danish CPR-number.

The fee is £22.00.
