Passport Extensions and Emergency Passports

The Passport Office will be closed on the following dates:

Wednesday 16th & Thursday 17th May 2012
Monday 4th & Tuesday 5th June 2012

Please note the following:

• You will need an appointment at the Passport Office to apply for an Emergency Passport/extension of your current passport. The waiting time for an appointment is currently approx. 5 weeks.
• If you are not able to make your appointment please let the Embassy know so that the appointment can be given to another applicant.
• If you are applying for a new/renew your existing passport at the same time you will need to book2 appointments per person.
• Failure to book 2 appointments will result in you being referred to make a further booking on another day.
• An extension of an existing passport together with an application for a new passport will not require 2 appointments.
• Up to 3 applicants from the same family may book an appointment on the same day.

You can book an appointment by telephoning the Embassy's main number (020 7333 0200 Mondays-Fridays 09.30-15.00 except Danish Public Holidays and UK Bank Holidays).

Please noteConsent from both parents is always required for under 18s. Please read the information about consent under Passports for under 18's.

Extension of Passport Validity

If you have to travel while your application for a new passport is being processed, you may apply for an extension of the validity of your current passport.
A passport can be extended only once and must not have been expired for more than 3 months.

Please check before coming to the Embassy whether the country you wish to travel to accepts extentions of passport validity and how many months they require the passport to be valid from the day of entry.

Fee: £108.00 - cash only.

Emergency Passports

An Emergency Passport is a handwritten document which may be issued while you wait either at the Embassy's Passport Office or at a local 'Danish Consulate/Vice-Consulate.

Validity Maximum 1 year

Please check before coming to the Embassy whether the country you wish to travel to accepts Emergency Passports and how many months they require the passport to be valid from the day of entry.

Fee: £108.00 - cash only.

An Emergency Passport can be issued in the following instances and each person must fill in and sign 1 passport application form. To download the form, please click here.

1. Lost Passports

If you live outside the UK you can only apply for an Emergency Passport. If you live in the UK  you must apply for a new full passport in addition to the Emergency Passport (please see "Passports for Adults/Passports for under 18s".

The loss of your passport must be reported to the local police straight away. The police receipt must be produced when you apply for the Emergency Passport together with 1 passport application form and 1 passport photo (please click here for information about passport photo requirements), and as much ID as possible.

All Danish nationals who are reporting a lost passport must complete a declaration at the Embassy stating the circumstances under which the passport was lost.

Fee:£108.00 - cash only.

2. Home Office/DVLA

You may apply for an Emergency Passport if your passport has been sent to either Home Office or DVLA.
You have to submit evidence of having sent the passport to Home Office/DVLA together with 1 passport application form and 1 passport photo (please click here for information about passport photo requirements) and other ID such as a driving licence/copy of your passport.

Fee: £108.00 - cash only.

Applications must be submitted in person (regardless of age) either at the Embassy's Passport Office or at a local Danish Consulate/Vice-Consulate.
